Thank you for your interest in supporting non-profits in the arts as we continue our efforts to employ artists in the Toledo area and ultimately uplift one another through positive impact in our community. 

THE Modern Dance Co. is a 501(c)3 non-profit that celebrates the human experience by employing professionals to further their education and commitment to dance through performance opportunities, diverse workshops, adult classes and community outreach programs. 

Founded in 2017, the non-profit is rooted in a love of the arts as witnessed in collaborative efforts which have included contracted performances as resident dance company of Toledo Repertoire Theatre, a fundraising cabaret with Toledo non-profit Food for Thought, and invited performances with Bird’s Eye View Circus and The Arts Commission of Greater Toledo. Dance classes are open to novice through professional performers and are offered in 4 sessions throughout the year.

THE Modern Dance Co. pays company members per annual contract for their performances as outlined in the monthly company newsletter. Dancers meet weekly with various choreographers paid for by the non-profit to learn and rehearse choreography for their seasonal repertoire. They also receive discounts on all classes, workshops and studio rental fees.

In our efforts to make art accessible for all - THE Modern Dance Co. continually pays into a scholarship fund awarded annually for young artists ages 18 and under to pursue classes in the performing arts of their choice. THE also established an apprentice company in 2019 - THE 2 - after a thrilling response to our Young Artist Sessions which attracted the interest of students up to an hour from Toledo, OH!
